We’ll try any beer we can get our greedy hands on. If a friend says he just picked up a sixer of something crazy, we’d expect some craft brew that’s hopped out of its mind or an imported stout that tastes like biting into chocolate cake, and we’d gladly partake.
We’re all big fans of beer here but most of these brews would make us think twice about reaching for the bottle opener.
By total coincidence, I picked up that banana beer today. I may live tweet the drinking of it later tonight.
O’Fallon’s Cherry Chocolate is pretty good. They’re a small brewer outside of St. Louis, not sure they make it far outside the Midwest.
The Southern Tier smells exactly Creme Brûlée (strongly!) but I was not fond of the taste.
Rogue Voodoo is good, but Founder’s makes a Canadian Breakfast Stout with maple sryrup that is fantastic.
Haven’t had the rest, although beers with chili (not in the bottle, during brewing) are pretty common and some are very tasty.
I heard the banana is good mixed with a chocolate beer like Young’s Chocolate Stout
I enjoyed the banana bread and creme brûlée. Chili beer is ok if you like heat, but not something you’d drink much of.
Do funnily named beers count, if they don’t taste particularly weird?
I’m thinking of things like Mort Subite (sudden death), Kanon (cannon) and Delirium Tremens here.
