If you’re not up to speed on this issue, let me explain. About two weeks ago something terrible happened in the App Store, and we’re still not sure what. Apps that received any type of price change, whether it was a small discount or a short term free period, started randomly displaying this absolutely maddening message: “This item is currently being modified. Please try again later.”
I’ve never seen this error.

I saw it when Sonic CD went on sale last weekend.
Has happened loads on the UK store recently. Only way around it seems to be to have a credit/debit card on the account and gifting the app to yourself via the print option. It is maddening though.

I’ve seen the problem. Deleted offending app (was free) and haven’t seen it after that.
Same here- I have experienced it on iPhone and iPad. It is a real issue that needs fixing.
Saw it earlier this week when updating 155 apps in iTunes. I gave up and moved on.
I see it quite regularly. Usually when trying to take advantage of an app that might be on sale (or free) for a very short period of time.
I blame the problem on the horrendous slave labor of 8 year old in the Foxconn plant. The poor kids have to work 44 hour days and walk up hill to the plant with no shoes on, uphill both ways in the snow. And then when they get there they are forced to commit suicide. Poor things!

Has happened twice here. Once, it sorted itself out after five or six days (it was an app). The previous time, it happened on a ‘Complete My Album’ attempt, probably seven or eight months ago originally, and it’s still doing it if I try it today.
I’ve seen it several times. Usually on sale stuff that apparently reached the end of its sale time cause when I got to it an hour or so later it wasn’t on sale anymore. I suppose during heavy traffic times it could falsely pop up more.
I can certainly see why this Tyler has his boxers in a bundle. His site is all about free and on sale apps. If folks can’t download them at the price he has found and give up then they might stop bothering to come to his site.

Tried to upgrade an album to iTunes Plus and got the same message.
