Dad shoots daughter’s laptop after reading her Facebook rant

Tommy Jordan was not pleased with the foul-mouthed rant his 15 year old daughter Hannah posted to her Facebook page, so he retaliated with his own YouTube video. I suspect many parents of teenagers (myself included) can relate to Jordan’s reaction.

  1. Vamsmack and myself had a great discussion about this earlier today.
I’d have preferred this guy donating the laptop to a charity, filming it, too, thus telling his daughter that it went to people who deserve it more.

  2. I agree with humedini…I would have spanked her with a board with nails in it. On the other hand…I wish he would have shown this to her and then posted a video of her reaction 🙂

  3. Mortal stupidity. Laptops don’t post online, people do. Next time, he should shoot his daughter.

  4. I cannot tell you how glad I am that this guy wasn’t my Dad while I was growing up. I don’t think we’d have got on. He comes over as insecure, controlling and, above all, disrespectful. I wonder why his daughter ended up the way she did. The apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree. I hope I’m not even remotely like this with my kids.

Also, he should have shot a smiley face in the lid.

  5. I’m in
I.T. as well and have the benefits of being able to provide things like laptops
my children as this man has done. I know what time and effort it takes to do these
things on top of everything else. He is a man with a teenage daughter. His
daughter’s behavior is common in today’s instant gratification based society,
and it wouldn’t be if more parents could punish their kids as in days past
(like he has done). You take away the things they take for granted and think
they deserve however you as the parent sees fit to do so. It’s called instilling
a “healthy respect and fear” of your parents (to a degree) with
comments like “I would have preferred it was donated”. Are you freaking
serious????! You obviously have not had a loud mouthed disrespectful daughter
as I have and this guy has had. It’s about the shock factor and following
through with what you say. He warned her, and when she didn’t heed the
warnings, he followed through with it. God bless him and his family. The only
thing I would have done different is gone the next step and done to the laptop
what Jimmy Hendrix did on stage to his guitar and lighter fluid. All the while
with the song “Disco inferno” playing in the back ground.

    Put that in your pipe
    and smoke it…

  6. Meh, just because he had to walk to school uphill both ways in a foot of snow doesn’t mean he’s some hero.

Had he had a better life, one he could offer to his daughter, maybe he would have learned some restraint and empathy to pass on to her.

Teenagers hate everyone, including themselves and especially their parents.
That’s why being a parent of a teenager is the ultimate test of maturity.
This guy failed that test miserably and publicly.
    Sad.

  7. Notice that the guy is smoking a cigarette in the video … that shows that one of two things about him is true:  1) he’s stupid, or 2) he’s too weak of an individual to quit.

Either would explain his actions in the video…

  8. I can’t decide who is the more moronic, daughter or father. At least the teenager’s immaturity match her years.

  9. Brutal parenting. No wonder she is struggling. Did he set fire to her books as well? Why

Becoming a parent truly brings the asshole out in some people.

People who think this is funny need to tell a therapist and get help getting back their compassion. She is a child and is supposed to screw up from time to time. He is an adult and is supposed to know better.

  10. I love what this father did. The little princess really needed to be put back into her place and since parents are no longer allowed to slap their foul-mouthed little darlings, this is one lesson she won’t forget in a hurry.

  11. Yeah but then again the video wouldn’t have been so awesome then 😉

Parenting ain’t what it used to be hey?

  12. I hate to tell the people of this father’s generation … you have become your parents. “Back in my day, we did blah blah blah.” Parents think kids are awful and reminisce about how things used to be. It happens like clockwork.

I would simply ask that if your generation was so disciplined, why did you bankrupt ours?

If you valued things more than these “instant gratification” youths, why did this guy destroy a perfectly good laptop that could have either aided the education of the underserved or generated money for a charity?

    Talk about sanctimonious.

  13. I was totally with him until he shot the laptop, because man, he won the battle and lost the war. Way to escalate the situation, Dad. You’ll never repair that relationship now, because no one on the planet would see their dad do that and say, ‘Gosh, you’re right, I’ve been a reprehensible person.’ If you think she’s been a handful so far, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
