Google Inc has been quietly policing its online store for months now in an acknowledgement of malware’s growing threat to its increasingly popular Android mobile software.
The new sheriff in town is Bouncer: a security service Google put in place to scan new apps as developers load them onto Market, its applications store.
That must be wrong. Google is open and allows developers to do anything, right?

They have been doing this for a long time and it still failed to catch Android.Counterclank trojans. So essentially nothing has really changed. Meanwhile Symmantec revised their threat assessment of the 15 latest apps from “trojan” to an “aggressive ad network”
I guess that’s what they call malware these days. Soon the definition will be “extramarket modal experiences”

You misunderstand “open.” “Open” has no specific meaning, other than “Google can do what it wants.”
Googles android is open because you are free to install apps onto your phone from Any where you wish to get them. Any one on an iphone getting apps from an appstore other then apples w/out jailbraking? Android is open more then some i would say, android gives you the ability to change whatever you have the intelligence and want to change within your phone/tablet.
I don’t mean to rant but people bagging on google for trying more actively to prevent malware from entering my phone…. Is a m o r o n.
