In a few billion years, our dear Sun will look like this, a beautiful glowing eye of spent starstuff trash in the shape of Sauron’s Eye. And no ring is going to save us from this one.
It’s the Helix Nebula, NGC 7293, 700 light-years away from Earth. Once upon a time it was a star like ours.
I’m going to be so bummed when that happens.
The beard will save us
I know right? Even though we won’t be here in the approximate 4 billion or so years that it will take for our sun to die, it is still a massive bummer to think about.
But you never know! We could still be here, you never know! Typing at our somethings to send info somehow to each other somewhere! 🙂
