Going to San Francisco for the 2012 Macworld | iWorld expo? Here’s a list of useful apps to help you get the best out of the city, especially if you are new in town.
San Francisco is a great city made even better if you know where to go, what to see and how to get there. These apps, both free and paid, will help a lot.
My favorite SF hidden gem is Audium. It’s a space with 169 speakers. Stan Shaff, the composer, uses a custom mixing desk to create a live 3D “sound sculpture” in complete darkness. It’s hard to describe and has to be experienced. He started the concept over fifty years ago. It’s been in its current location for over 35 years. It only runs on Friday and Saturday nights. You may only get to an after-party that night, but it’s completely worth it. (I didn’t put a link because Disqus seems to block any post I make that includes a link, but just append .org and you’ll find it.)
