Danny Sullivan does a good job of spelling out what a completely confusing morass Android has turned into, thanks to Google and device manufacturers working on totally different pages.
Ha ha! This article makes me laugh. Clopen lol. Only a genius could use the word clopen and make it sound so right.
Fact is that the rapid evolution of hardware used to run Android makes it hard to keep the older devices up to date and realisticly Functional. I myself have seen the newest android OS variant running on a watch and the original HTC g1. The fact is that if you have low ram you can’t install windows 7 on your computer. Windows 8 requires the system to have 2gb ram to run properly. But like Android. With a PC you can obtain a copy of the most current OS and shoehorn it onto your device. sacrificing things in the process because devices made last year were made to work on last years software and this years software takes more ram, a better graphics chip, and a higher end processor. Handset and tablet manufacturers make more people want there products if they function properly. But consumers just want the newest best. And cry when there perfectly functioning phone or tab isn’t running on the newest software. Shoehorning a new is into a device that isn’t quite up to par most often ends up with bad experiences. Then coming from that bad experience I all too often hear people say “I’ll never buy another(insert brand here)” because that manufacturer was pressured into “making it work”
The harsh fact is that you buy a phone or tablet because of what it does now,not for what it do on the next os update .
If you want quad core CPU and newest os then go for that product. But don’t expect it to be cutting edge and up to date forever. (Yes I know TF-Prime is not on the newest is yet.)
The fact is I commend Asus for holding out on the newest update until its as ready as it can be before sending it out.
