Horseshit

Joshua Topolsky talking about MG Siegler and John Gruber’s comments about the Galaxy Nexus:

This doesn’t get under my skin because I have some kind of allegiance to one brand or another. It doesn’t get under my skin because I fundamentally disagree that Android 4.0 lacks the polish of iOS.

It gets under my skin because it is a pompous, privileged, insulting, and myopic viewpoint which reeks of class warfare — and it is indicative of a growing sentiment I see amongst people in the tech community.

Popcorn.

  1. It never ceases to amaze me how pompous, privileged, insulting people sound when they are accusing others of being pompous, privileged, and insulting.

  2. It was a late entry, but I believe you have won comment of the year anyway. Congratulations!

  3. This week, I would have opted for “horsefeathers,” as a tribute to the late Henry Morgan.

  4. I like seeing these people who are so convinced they’re so smart and right. They’re like the clothesless emperor getting a shadow of a hint that he’s “missing something.”

  5. As a millennia old alien insect intelligence which happens to be the absolute ruler of 10,000 worlds, I believe I come by my elitism honestly.

  6. Josh is obviously a gadget loving guy, who loves pimping out. That’s why he loves pimping Google.

I never read engadget anymore, and certainly not the Verge either (though Nilay’s legal perspectives are always quite cool). The Verge ranks up there with cNet.

    As posted the other day…

    Jeff

Don’t try changing the subject and call it class warfare. Sheesh. (building ice cream castles in the sky)

  7. I honestly didn’t think Topolsky would stoop that low; “class warfare”, really?
That is an achievement that should go into the ‘NMD book of World Records’.

  8. Very well done. Here’s how I read it:

“I’m not saying that 1 percenter’s prefer the iPhone over the Android, I’m just saying that if I was a d-bag 1 percenter I would totally prefer the Android (aka the People’s Phone) over the polished, bourgeois, iPhone.”
