Eight Ferraris and a Lamborghini were part of a 14-car crash in Japan yesterday that wrecked more than $1 million of vehicles.
“The accident occurred when the driver of a red Ferrari was switching from the right lane to the left and skidded,” said Mitsuyoshi Isejima, executive officer for Yamaguchi Prefecture’s Expressway Traffic Police unit. “It was a gathering of narcissists.” The drivers were aged between 37 and 60 years old, he said.

Why is it that the guys who can afford to buy a Ferrari almost invariably lack the skill to drive a Ferrari. What do you want to bet that they all had Stability & Traction Control turned off?
They were also probably in a tight pack, as well.
Idle rich. Idle mentalities. No thoughts of consequences.
I have nothing at all against being rich, but when driving such cars on public roads, I’d be tempted to *drive*, too, but not without some good training and driving skills.

Actually, I bet they had it turned *on* and it made them overconfident in what the car could do. Stability & Traction Control aren’t magic. They can’t *prevent* you from doing something *really* stupid. 🙂
