Aravind Ajith:
In order to save some time the next time you go hunting for WordPress themes be sure to note these five essential ingredients that make up a great WordPress theme – for any type of website.
The Loop uses WordPress, but we used a custom designed theme.
Cluttering the design with sidebar widgets (such crap as local weather reports, mini video games or a feed from a live webcam) is now considered ‘essential’?
Your beautiful, magical, crapped-from-a-unicorn theme won’t mean squat if you have nothing worth reading on the site.
What the heck were you thinking when you posted this?
Did you actually read the 5 commandments you linked to?
This is not quality news, this is substandard.
#1 priority should be focus on content, not widgets
#2 should be speedy loading
#3 should be readability on different screen sizes – phone, tablet (landscape AND portrait) and widescreen desktop
I agree that the advice is bad, but I think it’s an interesting contrast between the lovely Loop and the (mostly) shit ideas proposed in the linked story.
