I’ve been using iOS 5 for a few months and I never noticed a change to Apple’s built-in Weather app. A friend sent me an iMessage this morning and asked if the hourly was new. Sure enough, there it is.
It’s a handy little addition to the app, especially if the weather is going to change. Typically the Weather forecast will just show rain, but you don’t know when it’s going to start. Now you do.
It’s also important to note that the app knows where you are automatically now, so you don’t need to enter in a specific city or place to get the weather. If you’re there, it knows.
is this a joke? this isn’t a new feature. it comes from the betas, nearly 4 month old
Okay, but most people in the world didn’t use the beta, so no it’s not a joke.
I used all the betas and didn’t know about this feature until recently. Of course it isn’t a joke.
Well Abuzer, I didn’t notice the feature until I started using Siri on my 4S and I’d been using the beta for months. Imagine people that just got it a week ago?
Did you also notice that when you have the weather widget running in the instant message tray, you can swipe right or left for the weekly forecast.
It is easy to miss, you have to swipe down on the default screen to see it and if you did not know it was there you wouldn’t try looking for it.
Now if only they would release the weather app for the iPad so that we could get weather info in notifications pull-down menu as well it would be perfect.
