∞ Canon adds AirPrint support to Pixma printers

Canon on Tuesday announced support for AirPrint, iOS’s built-in printing capability, in its Pixma MG8220, MG6220 and MG5320 All-In-One inkjet photo printers. What’s more, Canon also said “the majority of Canon Pixma inkjet printers” will support AirPrint as well.

AirPrint was introduced with iOS 4.2, and works on all iOS devices – iPad, iPhone, iPod touch.

A web page Canon claims to have set up with details about AirPrint support was not active as The Loop posted this article.

  1. Just checked the “fine print” on the above link (nota bene: last sentence):

“Printer firmware update is necessary for AirPrint function. Certain exception may apply. AirPrint functionality requires an iPad, iPhone 3GS or later, or iPod touch 3rd generation or later device running iOS 4.2 or later, and an AirPrint-enabled printer connected to the same network as your iOS device. A printer connected to the USB port of your Mac, PC, AirPort Base Station, or Time Capsule is not supported.”

  2. Hello Canon Pixma users. I have to say, I have owned my Pixma mx410 for almost a year now, and it far exceeds any HP printer of my past, but for some reason I am having the hardest time getting it to do anything but print and scan, supposedly it prints from Google cloud print and air print, AND it claims to even to wireless. If there is something I am missing, like some underground secret Canon society that you have to be admitted to to get these answers, will someone please invite me, I tried everything. Everything from their, Canon’s Website, including not only USA, but Europe. I have Google d it, and still there seems to be no solution. Either that or I am just the most canon illiterate person, because of my past HP one has any If experiences, which came with the purchase of a new Laptop computer from Fry’s.
