It’s one thing to look at today’s Windows-8-on-a-tablet and say that it has a lot of potential. It’s another thing altogether to look at it and declare victory.
Exactly right. Windows writers are claiming victory over one of the most popular consumer electronics we’ve seen in years, all based on a half-baked demo from Microsoft.
Didn’t MS declare victory with the Zune? Didn’t they declare victory with that cell phone (I can’t even remember the name of that spectacular failure)? Do I see a pattern here?

So, Windows writers think Microsoft have beaten the iPad with an OS that won’t be released for over a year, and by time it is released, we will have owned our iPad 3’s for most of 2012. Hell, by time this thing comes out, the iPad 4 rumours will be in full swing!

This has been the M.O. of Microsoft for a very long time. Over-promise on the future to try to lock people in today, then when they under-deliver start talking about future products again. Their current problem is that this works when you’re the market leader… which they aren’t in this category.
I find it funny how the pattern with Microsoft and Apple constantly repeats itself every few years.
Apple is always innovating our world with completely new concepts of how we use technology, from the iPod, which revolutionized the way we listen to music, the iPhone – an entirely new concept in how we think about a cell phone and communication, to the iPad – same mind-blowing revolution in computing,
Microsoft has tried not only copying, but outdoing these products and has failed miserably every single time! When was the last time Microsoft even innovated – and i mean come out with a new concept in technology? (That coffee table computer? Yeah… i see those EVERYWHERE!! ((NOT!!)) )
As CEO of Microsoft I would personally be embarrassed at this point.
does anyone remembers that idiot called Ballmer showing us those windows 7 tablets in 2010, before the 1st iPad came out? where are those tablets? where is that failure called hp slate? can’t the world see how pathetic they really are?
let’s hope that he has nothing to do with this windows 8 thing, because the iPad needs some real competition, because that would be a good thing for us. apple should not be allowed to be nr.1, because then, they will become the new M$, and they will not work as hard, as they did in the past, to bring us those wonderful things.someone should make a blog called “ballmersstupidity.com”, maybe he will quit.
