A report on WSJ.com late Monday says Apple’s secret iTunes announcement on Tuesday will be unveiling of the Beatles catalog.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Citing a source familiar with the negotiations, WSJ.com said talks between Apple, Beatles representatives and EMI were taking place as late as last week. Specific terms of the deal were not disclosed.
If Apple’s secret announcement is the Beatles, it would put an end to an ongoing fight between Apple Corps and Apple (Computer) that’s been going on for years.
Apple on Monday posted a note on its website inviting users to visit its website on Tuesday for an announcement “That you’ll never forget.”

The Beatles makes sense to me and knowing how much Steve likes them, it makes sense they would make a big deal out of it.
If they make a big deal out of the Beatles, I’d be disappointed.
If that’s it, they are going to regret using such an epic teaser.

I mean, it could be the Beatles and something else, but that doesn’t seem very likely.

Maybe, but if the Beatles collection does make it in the iTunes Store tomorrow it probably won’t be the main announcement. There is something bigger in the wind.

How are the Beatles? That’s what my 20 something nephews ask me. To little to late and the ship has already passed them.
So what will I do with my entire Beatles back catalog in my iTunes library currently?
I don’t care about all this jibber-jabber about the Beatles.
What I care about is what Steve has said over and over: “We love music.”
I’m happy for him and us that one of his (and our) dreams may finally be coming true.
I have a lot of fond memories from my teens and twenties connected with Beatles music, and it’ll be very nice to be able to access their music via iTunes.
No matter what some people think about The Beatles, this is a big deal.
This isn’t the Dave Clark Five we’re talking about (not that they didn’t write a few catchy tunes).
