The first Unreal Engine-powered game for iOS, Infinity Blade, has sold at least 274,000 copies in its first five days on sale, according to recent player counts on Game Center. At $6 a copy that’s a $1.64 net for the publisher, and a new record, according to Gamesindustry.biz.
“This trumps the previous record for fastest-grossing App, held by the Chillingo-published title Cut The Rope, which turned over $1 million in its first ten days. However, the $0.99 title also boasted one million downloads over the same period.”

Speaking at the Evolve In London Conference, Microsoft Game Studios’ Kieron Connell said that his company won’t simply roll over and let Apple dominate the smartphone market, even if it faces stiff competition.
‘I think there are too many people with too much money invested to let Apple win in terms of flooding the entire market,’ Connell told listeners.”

We all know the iPad is a popular device and that apps are a huge part of that popularity. However, you shouldn’t underestimate the draw of Web browsing among iPad users too. AllThingsD’s John Paczkowski talked to Chitika about their tracking of iPad adoption and got some nice info.
How’s this for a prediction? By the end of 2011, the iPad will generate more than two percent of all North American Web traffic.

Kotaku has confirmed that Graeme Devine has left the employ of Apple after working in their iPhone Game Technologies division since last year. Devine’s storied career includes the creation of the horror game The 7th Guest, id Software’s Quake III Arena and more. Devine said that he’s returned to game development outside of Apple, though he’ll continue to work on iOS products.
“I can’t comment on what’s next inside Apple, but I can tell you, they really do ‘get’ gaming,” said Devine.

Verizon FiOS customers will soon join the ranks of Dish TV subscribers in having their service available for the Mac and iPad. Mac OS X and iOS support is on the horizon for Verizon, which will give Mac users the same functionality Windows users currently enjoy.
Bob Munge, Verizon’s FiOS top executive, added that along with its new service bundles and Apple support, the company plans to start offering live TV broadcasts to tablet devices such as the iPad, too. He warned, however, that live streaming probably wouldn’t happen before the middle of 2011 since broadcasters still have to work out licensing deals.
