∞ Photoshop Elements 10, Premiere Elements 10 in the Mac App Store

Two of Adobe’s newest applications for the Mac have made their way onto the Mac App Store. Photoshop Elements 10 and Premiere Elements 10 are both available on Apple’s software store for download. Both applications cost $79.99 and weigh-in at about 1GB each. The Elements moniker signifies that these are Adobe’s consumer-level applications, but based on their professional counterpart.

∞ Multitrack bounces with EZDrummer and Logic Pro

If you have EZDrummer then you’ll know there is no way to do this natively inside the plugin. There are however workarounds to this and I’m going to show you how to do this in Logic Pro. Although I’m in Logic this concept will work in any DAW that can feed a record input from an internal source.

Step-by-step instructions from MacProVideo.com.

∞ Microsoft accuses Google of having no vision or roadmap

Microsoft’s Tom Rizzo:

In cancelling this group of social media-like services, it is clear that Google is not in tune with the market needs and does not have a product roadmap and clear vision for productivity for their business customers. The Microsoft Office team does. Our vision demonstrates a clear focus on what business customers are looking for, such as intuitive interfaces across a wide range of devices.Google releases experimental products and tracks adoption to determine whether to continue providing them. Its products are like spaghetti, Google throws them up against the wall to see if they stick.

Michael Gartenberg’s take on Twitter is classic. “pot to kettle, you’re black.”

∞ Syncing documents with iCloud

Federico Viticci at MacStories

What’s interesting about this folder when used with two Macs under the same iCloud account is that it provides a basic “drop box” functionality for files that don’t necessarily belong to an iCloud-enabled app.

You knew it was hidden in there somewhere.

∞ Steve Jobs, Final Cut and iMovie

An excerpt from John Buck’s book “Timeline”:

Jobs approached Adobe Systems, and asked them to create a consumer version of Premiere that Apple could bundle with the unreleased Mac code-named Kihei. With Apple’s future still uncertain, and Premiere sales growing on the Wintel platform, Adobe said no.

Like so many other things, Jobs was driven by a belief that he was right. When Adobe said no, Jobs created the applications division at Apple that gave us so many great apps over the years.

∞ 'Take Control of iCloud'

“Take Control of iCloud” covers every platform that iCloud supports, which includes Mac OS X 10.7.2 Lion, iOS 5, Windows Vista and Windows 7, and even the second-generation Apple TV. If your computers and devices aren’t running — or can’t run — those operating systems, they won’t be able to participate in iCloud, but the ebook offers some workarounds.

A book written by Joe Kissell and offered by TidBITS founders Adam and Tonya Engst. In other words, it’s really good.

∞ Apps should seem almost magical

I’m asked to test quite a bit of software and give feedback to the developers. Sometimes that goes well, others times, not so well.

To me, making an app simple to use — whether on the iPhone, iPad or Mac — doesn’t mean stripping out all of the features. All that does is make the app less useful for the user.

∞ TechStars, Lies & Videotape

In just the three episodes that have aired thus far, it has become clear that Bloomberg had a character in mind for each of us – and edited footage according to the story they choose. I happened to get it the worst in Episode 3, but I’m sure another victim will emerge in future episodes.

And that’s reality TV.
