RIM posts less of a loss than expected

The company sold 7.4 million BlackBerry phones and 130,000 PlayBook tablets last quarter. Analysts on average predicted 6.9 million smartphones and 217,000 tablets. Apple, meanwhile, sold 5 million units of its latest iPhone in a single weekend.

Wow, that’s pitiful compared to the iPhone.

Asshole

Who knew that someone could jump on the Apple bashing bandwagon faster than David Pogue.

Facebook SDK adds support for iOS 6

We’re happy to announce the Facebook SDK 3.1 for iOS that adds support for the Facebook integration in iOS 6. This integration opens up new opportunities for mobile app developers as you can easily build the foundation for a social app, Facebook Login and sharing functionality, into your product.

Disappointing

Funny how people people can take a successful iPhone 5 launch and try to say it’s disappointing.

Google mocks Apple Maps

RIM deathwatch

“This is the first quarter we are expecting zero subscriber growth – a loss in enterprise [customers] offset by a small gain in international consumer subs,” said Kris Thompson of National Bank Financial. “Starting next quarter, we see the sub base in a downward spiral with Blackberry 10 potentially slowing [the losses], but we’re not holding our breath.”

Dead.

About iPhone 5 sales

Eric Slivka:

Marshall notes that many of those first-day pre-orders, as well as ones made after that date, have yet to be delivered, and thus Apple can not yet count them as sold.

That would boost the sales numbers by quite a bit.
