The Dalrymple Report: OSes, iPhone 16, and AI

The iPhone 16 is set to be available on September 20. Many people put in their preorders, but less than an hour after they started, shipping times were already pushed back to October. Early tests on iPhone 16 battery life are encouraging, and all of the new Apple OSes have been officially released. Of course, one of the big features that everyone is waiting for is Apple Intelligence, but it didn’t arrive yet, but there is a schedule that shows the supposed times for its arrival.

The Dalrymple Report: iPhone 16, Health features, and Apple Watch

Apple had its annual iPhone event this week and released a lot of new products. Dave and I talk about the new iPhone 16, Apple Intelligence, Airpods, and the new Apple Watch. Perhaps some of the greatest features of the event were in the health category. Using the Apple Watch, Apple unveiled the ability to detect Sleep Apnea, in addition to other features.

The Dalrymple Report: Apple TV bug, Apple event, iPhone 16

I found a couple of bugs in Apple’s tvOS that have been very annoying over the last few months. They seem to have started after Apple introduced a new menu system in the software in the last version. Apple announced the date for its latest event where the iPhone 16 is expected to be introduced and based on the information we currently have, Dave and I look at the major differences between the iPhone 15 and iPhone 16.

The Dalrymple Report: Mac mini, Patreon, and a coffee update

There are rumors of a new M4 Mac mini in Apple’s future, which makes sense—this wouldn’t be the first time Apple has used the Mac mini to lead off its Mac upgrade cycle. Users of Patreon are up in arms over Apple’s requirement for the company to move to its in-app purchasing system or risk being removed from the App Store. I have an update on my quest for a good cup of coffee.

Apple AI, MacBook, and iPhone 15 Pro

Apple rolled out its AI strategy at WWDC this month. Dave and I take a look at that, as well as, a look at what Siri will be able to do, and what it won’t do at launch. There are rumors of a new M4 MacBook Pro, which makes sense since Apple just released an iPad with the same chip. The requirements for Apple’s new AI strategy calls for an iPhone 15 Pro, which leaves a lot of older iPhone users out in the cold.

The Dalrymple Report: Justin Long, Apple AI, and Netflix

Justin Long is in the news again, this time doing commercials for Qualcomm. Apple is still in the news for uts rumored AI releases at WWDC, but this time it’s for a partnership with Sam Altman and OpenAI to make Apple’s AI actually work. Netflix is ending support for older Apple TVs, so if you have one of those devices, it may be time to upgrade.

The Dalrymple Report: Apple Event, Calc app for iPad, and Apple ID password resets

Apple announced an event for May 7, 2024, which is widely expected to showcase new iPads ahead of the companies Worldwide Developers Conference in June. At the event, or perhaps in the next version of iPadOS, the company is expected to unveil a calculator app for the device for the first time. A wave of Apple ID password resets have plagued users, including me, over the past week or so.

It is a big week for women’s basketball as college star Caitlin Clark went No. 1 in the WNBA draft. As incredible as her college career was, some fans are outraged at her salary. Dave and I dig into how much she’s getting paid and why. My iPhone doesn’t connect to my new truck using CarPlay, so I can’t use Maps or Apple Music. This forced me into getting a subscription to Spotify and it has some really cool features. We are all looking (cautiously) forward to AI, but some of the new products are really bad. We take a look at one of them.

The Dalrymple Report: Home Robotics, Switching to Android, and Apple TV+ Movies

After stopping development of its car project, Apple is now rumored to be entering the home robotics space. It will be interesting to see what that will be in the future. The New York Times gave one of its reporters the task of switching from iPhone to Android—it went okay, but it certainl wasn’t smooth in all areas. Apple TV+ added a lot of movies from different studios to its service this week. They are all available for free if you subscribe to Apple TV+.

A man was mugged and had his iPhone stolen—the thief then hacked his Ring camera inside his house and began taunting him.
