Apple on Friday released iOS 4.3.4 – new software for the iPhone, iPod touch and iPad. It’s available for download and installation through iTunes.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]The new release offers security-related changes to CoreGraphics and IOMobileFrameBuffer. In CoreGraphics, the fix changes how FreeType handles TrueType fonts to prevent maliciously crafted PDF files from leading “to an unexpected application termination or arbitrary code execution,” according to Apple.
The IOMobileFrameBuffer change fixes an issue related to queuing privileges, “which may allow malicious code running as the user to gain system privileges,” according to Apple.
Apple has also published an iOS 4.2.9 update for CDMA-based iPhone 4s (the models sold by Verizon). That release offers the same changes.
Details on what’s changed have been posted to Apple’s Web site.
