Kotaku reports that an official Pokémon game is coming to iOS and Android this summer called Pokémon Say Tap? BW. This marks the debut of an official Pokémon game for smartphones.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Pokémon is the hugely successful franchise of games, toys, cartoons and other merchandise that has taken the world by storm since its introduction in the mid-90s.
It doesn’t look like Pokémon Say Tap? BW is the same Pokémon adventure game players using Nintendo DS’s are accustomed to. Kotaku describes it as “a timing game” that “uses music and on screen Pokémon cards.”
Still, it’s Pokémon.
Pokémon is most closely associated with Nintendo, which has had a virtual lock on the franchise for years – Pokémon games have been available on Nintendo’s handheld and console systems since the original Game Boy, though Pokémon have occasionally filtered out to other platforms in some licensed forms (most notably, in some older educational titles for Mac and PC). It’s worth underscoring, though, that this is not a Nintendo game, according to Kotaku. Instead, it’s coming from The Pokémon Co.
