I honestly didn’t think I’d be saying this, but the Boston Bruins have won the 2011 Stanley Cup.

[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]It’s been since 1972 that the Bruins last won the cup and there’s been a lot of ups and downs since then. As a Bruins fan since that last cup win, I’ve been with the team through all of those tough times.

I think all Bruins fans are cheering for the league’s top goalie, Tim Thomas. He is undoubtedly one of the best goalies to ever play the game.

Unlike many teams in the NHL, the Bruins don’t have the major star power to fall back on or to push the team forward. Instead, the Bruins rely on a solid team effort to get the job done.

I’ve described the Bruins this year as a blue collar team — I think that description could be used for many seasons for the Bruins. It just goes to show that hard work pays off.
