Square Enix on Thursday released Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for iPhone and iPad. Each version costs $6.99 and $9.99 respectively.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]In this game, you play either as famed adventuress Lara Croft or an ancient Mayan tribesman named Totec as they work to retrieve an artifact known as the Mirror of Smoke and stop an evil spirit named Xolotl.
An adaptation of the downloadable game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC, Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light is a very different take on the legendary platformer game franchise. While past Lara Croft Tomb Raider games have been “third person” platform adventure games, Guardian of Light is displayed isometrically, or in a “three-quarters” perspective more familiar to fans of games like Blizzard’s Diablo.
Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light for iOS features support for Apple’s Game Center and sports cooperative play designed to let one player play as Lara, the other as Totec. The gameplay style is all action, with a “twin-stick” style interface enabling you to move and shoot in independent directions.
System requirements for the iPhone and iPod touch version call for iOS 2.2.1 or later. The iPad version requires iOS 3.2 or later.
