Apple on Friday released iTunes 10.1, available for download through the Software Update system preference and from Apple’s Web site.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]The new version of iTunes has been widely anticipated as a precursor to the release of iOS 4.2. iOS 4.2 unifies the operating system running on iPads, iPod touches and iPhones, bringing new capabilities to the iPad such as Game Center and app folders. Indeed, Apple’s release notes indicate “Sync with your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch with iOS 4.2.”
In addition to iOS 4.2 sync compatibility, Apple lists the following changes in iTunes 10.1:
- Use AirPlay to instantly and wirelessly stream videos from iTunes to the all-new Apple TV.
- Provides a number of important stability and performance improvements.
