After confirming last week that it would begin selling the iPad, Target on Sunday rolled out its first batch of stock. [ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]There is no word on how sales are going at the stores, but it is only the first day. In all, the iPad will be sold in 1,743 Target stores across the U.S.
Target is carrying the 16GB Wi-Fi model, the 32GB and 64GB Wi-Fi and the Wi-Fi+3G models. The stores are also equipped with a selection of accessories including cases, iBook and iTunes gift cards, chargers and other items.
The move to sell the iPad in other retail outlets should further solidify the growth in the tablet category. A report from DisplaySearch last week showed iPad sales rising while netbook shipments were falling sharply.
