Apple on Wednesday released iOS 4.1, the latest version of the company’s mobile operating system. The new operating system includes Game Center, which allows you to invite friends to play multi-player games over the Internet. You can also send and receive friend requests from other Game Center users.
The update includes High dynamic range (HDR) photos on the iPhone, giving users the ability to have better looking pictures. Steve Jobs demoed this during his presentation last week when he unveiled the new iPods.
TV show rentals from iTunes is supported in this release as is FaceTime calling directly from favorites.
iOS 4.1 includes a couple of important bug fixes too. Most importantly is a fix for the proximity sensor that caused many people to hang up on phone calls inadvertently. iPhone 3G performance is also said to be improved with this release.
One fix that I’m happy to see is with Bluetooth — hopefully it will fix issues with my headset.
To get the update, plug your iPhone into your computer and click “Check for Updates” in iTunes. iOS 4.1 is compatible with the iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 3G and iPod touch 2nd generation or later.
