∞ Elements text editor with Dropbox support released for iPhone, iPad

Second Gear Software on Tuesday released a very cool app for the iPhone and iPad that I had to write about. Elements, a text editor with built-in support for Dropbox. There are a couple of key things with Elements that I really like. First, it’s a plain text editor, so it’s very easy to work with and it has a nice, simple layout. Second, it uses Dropbox for its storage.

In fact, when you first startup Elements, it asks you for your Dropbox login info. This is a cloud-based text editor if there ever was one.

Elements creates a folder in your Dropbox account where all files created in the app will be stored. Because Elements is an iPad and iPhone app, you can easily access documents from either device.

Of course, Dropbox works on the Mac too, so you can add documents to the Elements folder and access them from your devices.

Elements features autosaving, offline support, word counts, line counts, character count, a Scratchpad for ideas, the ability to email files from within the app and TextExpander touch support.

Elements is a universal app, so it will work on the iPhone and iPad. Elements costs $4.99.
