Apple’s battle with Google over the past year has been well documented, but now Google founder Larry Page says that Steve Jobs is “rewriting history.” According to a report on AppleInsider, Page said that Google had been working on a mobile platform for quite a while and for Jobs to say that Google was responsible for the problems between the two companies was “a little bit of rewriting history.”
“I think that characterization of us entering after is not really reasonable,” said Page.
Google CEO Eric Schmidt resigned from Apple’s board last year as tensions between the companies began to rise. From there, things only got worse.
Google said Apple rejected its iPhone app on the App Store and stuck to its accusation even after Apple denied it. The battle eventually brought in the FCC, which began investigating the matter.
The two companies even tried to buy Admob, with Google ultimately winning the bidding war. Apple ended up buying Quattro Wireless.
Schmidt pointed out that Google and Apple still work closely together with Google being the default search engine on iOS 4 and it still has its Maps app on the iPhone.
