Griffin Technology is about to make me a very happy guitar player. The company is going to introduce a new product called GuitarConnect that will enable you to plug your guitar into an iPhone, iPod touch, or iPad.

GuitarConnect is basically an adapter that allows your Apple device to recognize the guitar. Together with the iShred amp and effects modeling software, you can reproduce a variety of tones.

You can dial in a good tone and play along with songs on your iPad or just jam yourself. There isn’t a lot of information available on how many amp models, effects and cabs included in the software, but the video looks pretty impressive.

The page does say that the cable will work with other software apps, which is a good thing for users. If you already have a piece of software, you can just get the $29.99 GuitarConnect and start playing.

This is going to be an interesting space to watch for innovation.
