Apple on Tuesday released an update for iPhoto, bringing the current version to 8.1.1. Among the changes in iPhoto 8.1.1 are some major fixes for the applications facial recognition. The main change is a fix for an issue that could result in some faces being matched incorrectly.
If you imported photos of people using iPhoto 8.1, Apple recommends installing the update and then selecting those photos and choose “Detect Missing Faces.” This will correct any errors that were made during the earlier import.
The update also fixed an issue that could cause slow performance when displaying suggested matching faces.
The book order panel now displays correctly in all languages and the second-generation iPod touch now displays the correct icon in the source list.
iPhoto 8.1.1 is a free update available from the software update mechanism in Mac OS X.
