Apple on Tuesday released the 2009 version of “Star Trek” directed by J.J. Abrams. In addition, the company also posted the iTunes Extras for the movie. The iTunes Extras for “Star Trek” feature two featurettes, international trailers, production art and poster galleries, and a secret code that unlocks additional content, according to the iTunes Store.
The iTunes Extras feature was released as part of iTunes 9 in September during the company’s iPod event. As noted above, the extras give you additional content that was typical only available on DVD or Blu-ray disks.
iTunes Extras are also available for other hit movies like “Twilight,” “Batman Begins,” “WALL-E.”
Of course with the holidays right around the corner, Apple makes it pretty easy to gift content from the iTunes Store, including movies and iTunes Extras. Makes for a convenient gift for movie lovers.
