It’s very seldom that Apple tells users that major updates are available for its Apple TV home media system, but on Saturday they sent out an email to owners asking them to upgrade. The email was specifically asking users that upgraded to the new Apple TV 3.0 software to update to the newest 3.0.1 version released today. According to Apple, the new software prevents content from temporarily disappearing until it is resynced.
“We’re aware of an issue that may affect Apple TV customers with Apple TV 3.0 software, which can cause content to temporarily disappear until re-synced,” Apple spokesperson Tom Neumayr, told The Loop. “To avoid this potential issue, all customers running Apple TV 3.0 software should immediately reboot their device and then update to 3.0.1.”
You can download the update by going to your general preferences and Update Software. Instructions on how to update your Apple TV are available from Apple’s Web site.
Neumayr also said that if users need further assistance with their Apple TV, they can contact AppleCare.
Apple TV 3.0 was released late last month with several new features including Apple’s new album format, iTunes LP. The new software also gave users a new interface, Genius playlists and Internet radio through their home theatre.
