Hardware and software music-maker Native Instruments this week announced a new device for DJs called Traktor Kontrol X1. Designed by the same team that made Traktor DJ, the Traktor Kontrol X1 is designed to give users immediate control over “vital aspects of their performance.” The X1 gives you a way to control loop, cue, effect, track selection and transport functions.
The company says that the X1 complements a typical timecode-controlled Traktor Scratch setup consisting of a hardware mixer, turntables or CD decks. It can also be used as a self-contained controller for DJs who play beat-gridded tracks with the Traktor software and mix externally.
If you have a larger system, you can combine two X1 units to control a four deck setup and control all decks and effect units of Traktor Pro or Traktor Scratch Pro simultaneously.
Traktor Kontrol X1 will be available in February 2010 for $299. A carrying bag and stand will also be available for $49.
