As expected, Apple on Thursday released Apple TV 3.0 software, adding support for iTunes LP, as well as having a redesigned user interface. First on the list of changes for Apple TV 3.0 is support for Apple’s new album format, iTunes LP. Introduced as part of iTunes 9 in September, iTunes LP provides users with access to features like live performance videos, lyrics, artwork, liner notes, interviews, photos, album credits, and other extras.
In addition to HD movie rentals and purchases, HD TV shows, music and podcasts, users also get Genius playlists and Internet radio through their home theatre.
The new interface gives instant access to your favorite content, according to Apple. TV shows, music, podcasts, photos and YouTube, are accessible directly from the new main menu.
Apple TV 3.0 is free for all existing users. For new users, a 160GB Apple TV costs $229.
