If you use Office 2004 because of its VBA support, you’ll be glad to hear Microsoft is extending support for the suite of applications until January 10, 2012. Support for Office 2004 was originally scheduled to end tomorrow. However, since Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) was not supported in Office 2008, the company decided to extend the deadline.
“The date has been extended to 2012 specifically to ensure continuous cross-platform compatibility for Office 2004 customers reliant on VBA until support for VBA is released in the next version of Office for Mac,” Microsoft’s Mike Tedesco said in a post to the company’s Web site.
The continuation of Mainstream Support means that Office 2004 will continue to get security updates and non-security bug fixes.
