It’s pretty awesome what these guys are doing. They did similar camera work in the original, where they followed a actor jumping down through a hole in the floor. But this is obviously far more complicated.
This reminds me of the seamless transition between cars (combining both practical photography and digital) created by ZOIC for the short-lived TV show DRIVE on Fox.
