Apple on Friday said it is working with Foxconn to investigate an explosion at the factory where the company makes the iPad 2.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]”We are deeply saddened by the tragedy at Foxconn’s plant in Chengdu, and our hearts go out to the victims and their families,” Apple said in a statement provided to All Things D. “We are working closely with Foxconn to understand what caused this terrible event.”
According to the WSJ, an explosion tore through the factory located in southwestern China Friday night. The explosion killed two and injured 16.
Officials didn’t have a cause for the explosion, although they have ruled out foul play.
It’s not known at this time how this will affect supplies of the iPad 2. Apple has had trouble making enough of the iPads to keep up with demand.
