Apple may look to up the ante in the tablet race as one analyst says the company is developing a “World iPad.”
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Wedge Partners analyst Brian Blair says his recent checks of Qualcomm’s channel suggest Apple is developing a combo CDMA-GSM iPad using the Qualcomm chipset. Blair said Apple is going to slow down production of the current model iPads as it prepares to build the devices.
The dual-chipset isn’t the only change coming for the iPad, according to AllThingsD. Blair also said that the iPad will have a front-facing camera and some “design adjustments.”
Having a dual-chip on the iPad would make the device compatible with carriers like Verizon out of the box. Currently, many worldwide carriers utilize Mi-Fi technology to use the iPad on their networks.
