Bare Bones Software on Tuesday introduced Yojimbo 3, a new version of their information organizer for Mac OS X. The company has also introduced Yojimbo for the iPad, now available for purchase from the App Store.
[ad#Google Adsense 300×250 in story]Yojimbo gives you a place to store almost any kind of data – text, images, PDFs, serial numbers and more. Bare Bones calls Yojimbo’s style of interacting with data “low friction,” implying there’s no learning curve to use the software – just click and drag, copy, import.
Yojimbo provides tagging, labeling and collection features so you can more efficiently sort and organize your information. Information stored by Yojimbo is searchable using Apple’s Spotlight, and can be made accessible through MobileMe or exported to mobile devices.
Notable changes in this release is iPad syncing and support for TWAIN-compatible scanners. Other enhancements have also been made – Bare Bones has a complete list of changes in the Yojimbo 3 release notes.
Yojimbo is priced at $39, and upgrades cost $20. A free trial version is available for download.
Yojimbo for iPad, priced at $9.99, is a companion app that synchronizes with the Mac version over Wi-Fi. It handles encrypted entries and lets you take all of your Yojimbo data with you on the road. Once Yojimbo for iPad and the Mac are synchronized with each other, the iPad version picks up the latest changes as long as both devices are on the same network.
