HP executive Todd Bradley says his company will not follow Apple’s lead as it decides what products to develop around the WebOS. HP purchased Palm and the new WebOS earlier this year, raising speculation that HP would compete with Apple, especially with the iPad. But HP has a variety of products that could benefit from the WebOS, including its enterprise customers, according to a story on CNET.
“Emulating Apple is not part of our strategy,” said Bradley.
One lesson learned from Apple, Bradley said HP will not license the WebOS to other companies to use on their devices.
HP will use the WebOS in its own smartphones, tablets, printers and other devices, which makes sense since it owns Palm. HP does have a Windows-based tablet, but Microsoft’s tablet strategy hasn’t been very successful.
