∞ Universal Audio releases Echoplex, dbx 160 plug-ins

Universal Audio released two new audio plug-ins on Wednesday, further adding to its list of classic plug-ins for music enthusiasts and engineers.

Universal Audio dbx160 Compressor/Limiter

The EP-34 Tape Echo plug-in takes its cues from the vintage EP-3 and EP-4 Echoplexes, giving users warm delay effects. Want to know how the Echoplex sounds on a guitar? Just listen to Jimmy Page, Brian May, Chick Corea, Eddie Van Halen, Eric Johnson or Andy Summers — a lot of their classic recordings were done with the Echoplex.

The dbx 160 Compressor/Limiter is a reproduction of the classic dbx 160 hardware unit, which is commonly referred to as the “VU.” Like many plug-ins of the era, the dbx 160 is regarded for its simplicity and tonal characteristics.
