CCP Games has announced plans to release its 14th consecutive expansion pack to EVE Online, its popular online game for Mac OS X and Windows. Entitled “Incursion,” the expansion will be available for free to all players of EVE Online this November.

EVE Online is a massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) set in the far reaches of outer space, in which players assume the role of “Capsuleers” – pilots of interstellar spacecraft that navigate between the solar systems in a far away galaxy. Unlike many other MMO’s, which fracture the game onto multiple servers, all EVE Online players share a single online universe in which to play. Tens of thousands of EVE Online players occupy the game world simultaneously and can interact, chatting, becoming members of each other’s corporations and fleets, trading, and engaging in combat with one another.

Incursion furthers the storyline of EVE online by focusing attention on the deadly faction known as “Sansha’s Nation.” Pilots can join public fleets to destroy Sansha’s Nation incursions, garnering bounties, earning loyalty rewards and commendations in the process.

Key gameplay improvements include hardware upgrades, software improvements and new cluster components that CCP hopes will increase the game’s overall performance, especially during fleet battles.

Other enhancements include new character creation abilities, a Sansha Mothership, Fighter and Bomber, the introduction of the Noctis salvaging vessel, NPC improvements, new loot and rewards, new storyline events, new visuals and enhancements (and simplifications) to the planetary interaction first introduced with the current expansion, Tyrannis. CCP also plans updates to EVE Gate, the Web-based social networking platform for EVE Online.
