Roxio has announced the release of Retrospect 8.2, a new version of the popular backup and recovery software Roxio acquired from EMC in May. This marks the first release of the software since that acquisition.
Retrospect 8 is targeted at small to medium sized businesses looking for backup software for servers, desktop and notebook computers, developed to fit the gap between personal backup software like Mac OS X’s Time Machine capability and enterprise-level backup systems, which cost much more. The software works on Mac OS X, Windows and Linux systems.
The new 8.2 release features 64-bit addressing support to enable the backup of volumes containing many more files than were possible before. User interface enhancements have also been introduced to simply workflow and management. Backups created with Retrospect 6 can be restored using Retrospect 8.2.
