Virtual Programming has released The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena for Mac OS X. It’s available either in a box or for download for $49.95.

A first-person action game featuring characters and situations from the Vin Diesel sci-fi films “Pitch Black” and “The Chronicles of Riddick,” The Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena is two games in one. It includes “The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Butcher Bay,” available on the Mac for the first time, along with the new Dark Athena campaign, which VP says includes an additional 11 hours of gameplay.

The first person shooter includes both a single player game and online multiplayer with six modes. Mac gamers can compete with Windows users, and the graphics from Escape From Butcher Bay have been remastered using higher quality models than they had originally.

System requirements call for Mac OS X 10.6.3, a 2.16GHz or faster Intel-based Mac, 1GB RAM, 256MB video card, 12GB hard disk space and an Internet connection for registration.
