∞ Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online launches, for Mac and PC

EA Sports on Tuesday announced the general release of Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online, a golf video game you can play in your Web browser.

The basic game is free to play, although players incur fees in order to play featured courses, special rounds or to buy equipment in the Pro Shop. Players can customize their in-game golfers physically and with training to improve their games.

Other features include group tournaments, friend-to-friend messaging, and a roster of ten real-world golf courses including Pebble Beach Golf Links, TPC Sawgrass, St. Andrews (Old Course) and more. New courses will be released in the future.

Tiger Woods PGA Tour Online was first introduced in private and public beta tests in May, 2009. This announcement marks the game’s general release. The software works on both Macs and PCs using the Unity Web Player plug-in – the same technology that powers Cartoon Network’s popular FusionFall MMO.

EA Sports also revealed that Tiger Woods PGA Tour 11 will be released on June 8th for iPhone (as well as Wii, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3).
