Oceanhouse Media has announced the release of apps for the iPad, including Dr. Seuss e-book apps. “The Cat In the Hat,” “Dr. Seuss’ ABC” and “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” are each priced at $2.99. But if you’ve already bought the e-books for your iPhone or iPod touch, the updates are available for free.
Oceanhouse’s e-books are very different from Apple’s iBooks. They each incorporate multimedia and interactivity, with professional narration, background audio and enlarged artwork for each scene.
For young children, individual words are highlighted as the story is read and words will zoom up when pictures are touched. The books include three different ways to be read – narrated, traditional, and like a movie, with automatic reading and page turning.
Oceanhouse’s fourth iPad app is called Bowls HD. Priced at $3.99, the app enables you to make relaxing music using Tibetan “singing bowls.” The original iPhone version enabled users to play seven different bowls on separate screens – the iPad version lets you see all seven bowls along with accompanying instruments, all on a single screen.
