∞ The Grinch makes an iPhone appearance

Dr. Seuss’ beloved book How the Grinch Stole Christmas has been turned into a TV special and feature-length movie, and now it makes its iPhone and iPod touch debut, thanks to the work of Oceanhouse Media. The company has released Grinchmas and Dr. Seuss Camera – The Grinch Edition for $1.99 and $2.99 respectively. What’s more, an e-book app is on the way.

gI_GrinchmasDefault.pngGrinchmas is a casual game in which players stand as the Grinch, atop Mount Crumpit, throwing either snowballs or presents down upon the residents of Whoville depending on whether they’re feeling merry or mean. The game features colorful graphics and swipe-based gameplay.

Dr. Seuss Camera – The Grinch Edition lets you snap photos using your iPhone’s built-in camera and create “Grinchmas cards” that you can then e-mail to friends and family, posing with characters from the story such as the Grinch himself, his dog Max, and Cindy-Lou Who. You can customize the cards with stamps, borders and classic Seuss text.

The forthcoming e-book app, also coming out in time for the holidays, will combine the original artwork and story text of the book with interactive features designed to promote reading in young users, according to Oceanhouse.
