EA Mobile has announced the release of Command & Conquer Red Alert for the iPhone and iPod touch. It costs $9.99 and is available for purchase and download from the App Store.

Command & Conquer Red Alert is an adaptation of the enormously popular real time strategy game series, designed from the ground up for the iPhone and iPod touch interface. The game takes a campy, alternate-reality sci-fi twist on the Cold War rivalry between the Soviet Union and the West as the two forces battle each other across a dozen different combat levels.

Command & Conquer Red Alert has you wage war using tanks, airships, and other weapons as you acquire resources and send them into battle, using the multitouch capabilities of the iPhone and iPod touch to pinch-zoom in and out of the action, select and move units using tap controls, and more.

An upcoming free update EA Mobile promises for Command & Conquer Red Alert will add multiplayer support over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. EA Mobile also offers In App Purchases that expand the game with six more Skirmish maps, along with the an “Empire of the Rising Sun” expansion pack that adds a third faction, along with extra Soviet and Allied units.

Requirements call for an iPhone or iPod touch with iPhone OS 3.0 or later.
